Ramadan 2027 Key Dates

Ramadan follows the Islamic lunar calendar, so it moves about 11 days earlier each year. In 2027 it falls mostly in February, with the final days in early March. These are the expected dates, subject to the moon sighting in Saudi Arabia:

Event Expected date
First day of RamadanAround Monday 8 February 2027
Start of the last ten nightsAround 27 February 2027
Last day of RamadanAround 8 March 2027
Eid al-FitrAround Tuesday 9 March 2027

The exact start can move by a day either way. We confirm the final dates with every client as soon as they are announced. For a month-by-month view, see our February Umrah packages and March Umrah packages.

Which Part of Ramadan Should You Choose?

Most pilgrims choose one of three periods. Each has a different feel, crowd level and price.

  • First ten days (around 8 to 17 February): calmer, easier to get a good hotel, and usually the best value. A good choice for families, older pilgrims and first-timers.
  • Middle ten days (around 18 to 26 February): a good balance of atmosphere, crowds and price. This period also overlaps with February half-term in many parts of the UK, so it's popular with families.
  • Last ten nights (around 27 February to 8 March): the most sought-after time, when Muslims seek Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power) on the odd nights. It's the busiest and most expensive period, and the first to sell out.

Many UK pilgrims also choose a package that ends with Eid al-Fitr in Makkah, which is a special experience. If you want Eid there, add a night or two after the expected end of Ramadan, as the date is confirmed late.

Ramadan Umrah Prices from the UK

Ramadan is the peak Umrah season, so prices are higher than the rest of the year. As a guide, Dream Fare Ramadan Umrah packages start from:

Package From (per person)
7 nights, 4 star hotels£1,299
Last ten nights£1,799
5 star hotels£2,499

Prices are indicative, subject to availability and change, and depend on your dates, hotel distance from the Haram and departure airport. The earlier you book, the more hotel choice you have. Flights to Saudi Arabia for Ramadan

Most UK pilgrims fly into Jeddah, about 1 to 1.5 hours by road from Makkah. Your main options are:

  • Saudia direct: non-stop to Jeddah from London Heathrow and Manchester. Saudia plans to increase Manchester to Jeddah from 7 to 10 flights a week from January 2027. See our Saudia guide.
  • One-stop flights: Emirates via Dubai, Qatar Airways via Doha and Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, from London and several regional UK airports. These can be good value and often fly into Madinah too.
  • Madinah: there are currently no direct UK flights to Madinah. Wizz Air's Gatwick flights to Madinah and Jeddah are suspended, so most pilgrims fly into Jeddah or connect to Madinah.

Ramadan flight prices rise sharply as seats fill, especially before the last ten nights and around Eid. Booking flights and hotels together as a package often works out cheaper and simpler. We arrange departures from London, Manchester, Birmingham and other UK cities.

Visa, Nusuk App and Umrah Permits

UK citizens can perform Umrah on a Saudi tourist eVisa or a dedicated Umrah visa. Once in Saudi Arabia you also need an Umrah permit, booked through the official Nusuk app. You use the same app to book a visit to the Rawdah in Masjid an-Nabawi.

One Umrah during Ramadan: in recent Ramadans, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued only one Umrah permit per person through Nusuk during the month, to manage crowds. Plan your Umrah for the day that matters most to you, and check the latest rules on Nusuk before you travel. Our Umrah visa guide explains the visa in more detail.

Tip: Ramadan 2027 falls just a few months before Hajj. If you hope to perform Hajj as well, remember that Hajj is booked separately through Nusuk Hajj. See our guide to booking Hajj from the UK.

Tips for Umrah in Ramadan

  • Stay close to the Haram: in Ramadan the crowds are huge. A hotel within a short walk lets you pray Taraweeh and return to rest between prayers.
  • Plan around fasting: many pilgrims perform Umrah at night, after Taraweeh, or in the early hours before Suhoor, when it's cooler and a little quieter.
  • Weather: Makkah in February and March is warm rather than extreme, usually around 28 to 33°C in the day. Bring light, loose clothing and stay hydrated after Iftar.
  • Iftar at the Haram: breaking your fast in the courtyards of Masjid al-Haram, sharing dates and Zamzam water with pilgrims from around the world, is an experience many never forget.
  • Families: if you're travelling with young children or older parents, the first or middle ten days are usually easier than the last ten nights.
  • Health: check you're up to date with routine vaccines, and if you have a medical condition, speak to your GP about fasting while travelling.

When Should You Book Ramadan Umrah 2027?

As early as possible. We recommend booking at least 4 to 6 months ahead, which for Ramadan 2027 means now. Hotels closest to the Haram, especially for the last ten nights, are usually the first to sell out, and flight prices climb steadily as Ramadan approaches.

If your dates aren't fixed yet, we can hold your options and confirm the details once the moon sighting is announced. Read more in our guide to affordable Umrah packages from the UK.
