Hajj Everything You Need to Know

Hajj is the fifth and final pillar of Islam — an obligation upon every Muslim who is physically and financially able to perform it at least once in their lifetime. Performed during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah (12th month of the Islamic calendar), Hajj brings together millions of Muslims from every corner of the world in the greatest annual gathering of humanity on earth. Dream Fare offers fully supported Hajj packages from the UK, with expert guidance throughout every stage of the preparation and journey.

The Saudi government strictly controls the number of Hajj visas issued to each country, including the UK. UK Hajj visa allocations are managed through the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau in London and authorised Hajj operators. Dream Fare works with authorised Hajj operators to provide UK Muslims with access to Hajj packages that include government-approved visa arrangements, transportation within Saudi Arabia, accommodation in Makkah, Mina, Arafat and Madinah, and full spiritual guidance throughout the five days of Hajj rituals.

🕋
The Five Pillars of Hajj
Hajj consists of five main days of rituals: the day of Tarwiyah (8th Dhul Hijjah), the day of Arafat (9th — the most important day), the day of Muzdalifah, the days of Mina (10th-12th) including stoning the Jamarat and Eid al-Adha, and the farewell Tawaf.
📅
When is Hajj 2026?
Hajj 2026 is expected to take place in late May or early June 2026, subject to moon sighting. The Day of Arafat — the most important day of Hajj — is expected to fall on approximately 26th May 2026.
🏨
Accommodation in Hajj
Hajj packages include accommodation in Makkah before and after Hajj, tents in Mina during the Hajj days, an overnight stay in Muzdalifah and accommodation in Madinah. Dream Fare partners with operators providing good quality tent facilities.
🚌
Transportation
Hajj packages include all ground transportation within Saudi Arabia during the Hajj period, including shuttle buses between Makkah, Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah and Madinah. Private transport upgrades are available on premium packages.

💻

The Hajj Rituals Day by Day

1
Day 1 — 8th Dhul Hijjah (Tarwiyah)
Pilgrims enter the state of Ihram and travel to Mina, where they spend the day and night in prayer and preparation for the most important day of Hajj.
2
Day 2 — 9th Dhul Hijjah (Arafat)
The Day of Arafat is the pinnacle of Hajj. All pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat from midday until sunset, making dua and seeking Allah's forgiveness. Missing Arafat invalidates Hajj.
3
Night 2 — Muzdalifah
After sunset on Arafat, pilgrims move to Muzdalifah where they pray Maghrib and Isha combined and spend the night under the open sky, collecting pebbles for the stoning of the Jamarat.
4
Day 3 — 10th Dhul Hijjah (Eid al-Adha)
The day of Eid. Pilgrims stone the large Jamarat at Mina, perform their Qurbani (sacrifice), shave or cut their hair to exit partial Ihram, and return to Makkah for Tawaf al-Ifadah and Saee.
5
Days 4-5 — 11th and 12th Dhul Hijjah (Tashreeq)
Pilgrims remain in Mina stoning all three Jamaraat each day. After completing the stoning on the 12th, pilgrims who wish to depart early (Nafr Awwal) may leave Mina.
6
Farewell Tawaf
Before leaving Makkah, every Hajj pilgrim must perform the Tawaf al-Wida (Farewell Tawaf) as the final act of Hajj. This is a deeply emotional and moving moment for most pilgrims.

How do I get a Hajj visa from the UK?
+
UK Hajj visas are allocated by the Saudi government through authorised operators. Dream Fare works with authorised Hajj operators to include government-approved visa arrangements in all Hajj packages. Contact us as early as possible as Hajj visa allocations are limited. Call 020 8264 0018.
How much does a Hajj package cost from the UK?

Economy Hajj packages typically start from approximately £5,000 per person. Premium packages with better tent facilities and transportation start from £7,000 to £10,000+. Call 020 8264 0018 for current Hajj pricing.
What is the difference between Hajj and Umrah?
+
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory for every able Muslim at least once in their lifetime. It is performed during specific days in Dhul Hijjah and involves additional rituals beyond Umrah including the standing at Arafat, overnight at Muzdalifah, stoning the Jamarat in Mina and the Qurbani. Umrah can be performed at any time of year and is not obligatory.
How early should I book Hajj?
+
Hajj packages should be booked as early as possible — ideally 6 to 12 months before the Hajj season. UK Hajj visa allocations are limited and packages from reputable operators sell out very quickly. For Hajj 2026, we recommend enquiring immediately. Call 020 8264 0018.
Is Hajj obligatory if I have performed Umrah?
+
Hajj and Umrah are separate obligations. Performing Umrah does not fulfil the Hajj obligation. Hajj remains obligatory for every Muslim who is physically and financially able to perform it. Dream Fare can help you plan both Umrah and Hajj journeys.
